LEGEND OF THE DROWNED CITY OF YS (2001)
TM commission written by Marilyn Floyde
Anglo/French co-production with Théâtre de la Manicle
Our starting points were the Breton legend of the drowned city of Ys and a pantomime dame with a mobile phone. We wanted to create a bilingual theatre piece with strong visual elements.
This finely-honed production is an ensemble achievement, every member of the cast providing a perfectly rounded cameo performance... overall excellence.
The Stage
The eventual production was a bawdy spectacle full of humour, music, colourful costumes and fantasy puppets with its feet firmly in the earthy traditions of pantomime and European carnival. (See under International Collaboration).
